When Christians are baptized, they fulfill the command of Jesus (Matthew 19-20) and are submerged in water to identify with the death of Jesus and rise out of the water celebrating the transforming power of His resurrection (Romans 6:1-10). This public identification with Jesus testifies to the fact that we believe by faith that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, rose three days later, now is alive, and He is transforming us.
