Paseo del Rey Transition News
After 39 years as our Lead Pastor, Gary is transitioning to become our missionary, training pastors who train pastors in Africa. July 29th will be his last Sunday as our Lead Pastor.
As you know, our Search Team has been diligently and faithfully seeking to discover who God has to be our next Lead Pastor.
Working closely with NL Moore and Associates, they have narrowed the five potential candidates presented to them by Nancy and her team to two potential candidates. Both men and their wives have visited us here at Paseo del Rey. Each couple spent 2-3 days with our Search Team, Elders, and staff, as well as attended a weekend worship service.
Please continue to pray for our Search Team as they work in the next few weeks to determine the next steps in our search process, prayerfully reflecting on their own interactions and input received from others on these two potential candidates.
Once the Search Team arrives at a conclusion, they will present their recommendation to our Elders, who will then seek to affirm the Search Team’s selection and recommend to the congregation the final Lead Pastor candidate.
The candidate and his family will then be invited to come to Paseo del Rey Church to preach, meet and interact with us during the week in smaller groups.
With many moving pieces, a concrete timeline is still being determined, but you will know as soon as things are in place. We will provide plenty of advance notice and many opportunities to interact with our candidate once these plans are set.
Following his weeklong visit with us, the congregation will be asked to vote to confirm the candidate selected by our Search Team and recommended by the Elders. Our hope is that he could begin his ministry with us a short time later.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
