Week 40: A Glimpse into Heaven (Revelation 5)
  -

“Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne.” (Revelation 5.6)

Revelation 5 pulls back the curtain and gives us a glimpse into the throne room of heaven. John is told about the Lion from the tribe of Judah who has triumphed. But when he looks, he sees a Lamb who has been slain. It’s just one of many surprises the book of Revelation has for us.

Andrew and Shelton walk through this scene and discuss what it reveals about Jesus. Why is Jesus described as both Lion and Lamb? Why is he the only one worthy to open the scroll? And what does this heavenly scene reveal about what God is doing in the world today?

Highlights from this episode:

  1. How to read and better understand Revelation
  2. The Lion who conquered, the Lamb who was slain
  3. Why Jesus is unique and worthy

Listener question this week:

  • Who are the “angels of the seven churches”? Does every church have an angel, and does Paseo have one? (Revelation 1.20)
