Week 34: What Is the “Mystery” of the Gospel? (Colossians 1-2)
“God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1.27)
Sometimes we think of faith in Jesus as the starting point of our discipleship… and then assume we need to move on to something deeper. But in his letter to the Colossians, Paul reminds us that we never move on from Jesus. Instead, we grow deeper in our understanding of him and our devotion to him.
Andrew and Carlo explore Colossians 1.24-2:3 and Paul’s description of the gospel as a “mystery.” What exactly is the mystery? What can we learn from the way Paul described his part in God’s work? And how can we keep Jesus at the center when so many other things compete for our attention?
