I was given the wonderful privilege to join the staff of Paseo del Rey Church as the Lead Pastor in 2018.  We like to say that Paseo’s DNA can be summed up in three things: grace, scripture, and relationships.  Which is probably why I love this church so much!   It is the perfect fit for who God has shaped me to be.  As an undeserved recipient of God’s grace (the list of my mistakes is long), I have come to love God and have a deep passion for teaching His word so that others can know and love Him as well.  But having said that, I do not think church is simply a place to come and hear God’s word taught, but rather a people to experience the truth of God’s word made manifest through love and spiritual obedience.  This deep conviction drives us all at Paseo to foster sincere love for one another through honest and deep relationships.
As part of that, let me tell you a little about myself.  I grew up in deep East Texas (if you know, you know).  I did my undergraduate and seminary work at Baylor University in Waco, TX (sic em Bears!) and have previously served as the Teaching and Discipleship Pastor and as the Student Pastor in churches in both Waco and in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  I married my wife Amy (a gifted and passionate educator) in 2005 and we have been blessed with three wonderful children: Mason, Ellie, and Hudson.  I love cooking, camping (especially with my family), traveling, riding a Peloton, and eating tacos (but not at the same time as riding a Peloton, but I am willing to give it a try).  I like to read and listen to podcasts and I aspire to one day have a creative hobby (currently trying out photography).  But most of all, I love people.  I was raised in a diverse environment and I love to experience the beauty of God through the diversity of the people made in His image all over this globe (and to eat their food).
So now that you know a little bit about me, it is your turn.  Call the church and let’s grab coffee (or tacos).  I’d love to get to know you!
